Historic Moments
According to reliable sources (e.g., able to lie again):
on 14 February 1996:
- every committee in the world agreed to suggestions made by the French. [No meetings were held on that day. -Ed.]
- on the same day, former U.S. president George Bush realized that the grocery scanner wasn't reading the numbers under "those funny black lines" on retail products.
- also, the Uniform Code Council and EAN/International agreed on a single name for their combined systems, thereby making it easy for everyone who ever had to type UCC/EAN. [Unfortunately, the new acronym said something rude in Flemish. Back to the drawing board. -Ed.]
- finally, on that same day, AISC inadvertantly printed something politically correct. [Our insincere apologies. -Ed.]
Correction
In the last issue, several quotes were erroneously attributed to the people who really said them. We were told to apologize for this. -Ed.
