		Smart Tools "Smart" tools and devices have RS-232 or similar communications ports built in. Members of this category include: • scales, (including weight-in-motion) • measuring tools (both hand-held and automatic), • dimensioning and cubing systems, • micrometers and calipers, and • other devices. They are included in the AIDC family because they provide the same advantages of by-passing key entry of data that the other technologies offer. They're included here because you should consider them when developing an AIDC system.
